- Screening and diagnosis using fasting, random and HbA1c testing
- Starting and adjusting oral medication or insulin
- Regular review of blood sugar control
- Screening for complications, with kidney, eye, nerve and foot checks
- Diet, weight and exercise counselling
- Training on home glucose monitoring
- Pharmacy refills and referral to a specialist when needed
Before you come in
- Bring your glucometer readings or diary to every review.
- Fast for 8 to 12 hours before a fasting blood sugar test.
- Numbness, a non-healing wound or blurred vision needs review promptly.
